  1. “What if he got the real Excalibur?”

Actually excellent point, but the core drawback of Richard’s Excalibur is that in addition to durability and power being based on what he uses, even if he got the Real Deal he’d never be able to use it to it’s full potential.

In that sense you can consider Richard a poor match up against the original Saber

  2. 8:34 About his Excalibur copying NP, if I remember correctly from the servants information sheets that released with each volume of the Light Novel, it was stated that even if he got his hands on the original, it would still be a weaker blast than if Artoria used it, due to him being an imitator or something like that.

  3. A few things to make note of:
    1. The alliance between Enkidu, Saber, Ayaka, and False Assassin seems to be in order to take out the "wind of death"/"Mr. Black" based on Enkidu's reaction to it, the "mud" that Bazdilot used to corrupt Heracles (based on Francesca's description of it last episode), and Jester Karture (the kid/Dead Apostle/vampire who fought Hansa).

    2. Ayaka was a member of the El-Melloi class at one point, but weirdly had different colored hair than the one that was in that class. Whether she dyed it, or something else is going on, we don't know yet.

    3. This episode confirms something that was implied by the previous episode: All the masters of the "True Grail War" were chosen or have some connection to Francesca (Faldeus, the guy who summoned Watcher, Bazdilot, who have all been revealed in depth so far), considering that we saw someone who was very much not Francesca summoning Richard, yet she says here that it was her who manufactured the summoning.

    4. Richard's Excaliburs are definitely not on par with the original, considering how strong the original is, they seem to be more like replicas/fakes. Regardless of how strong Enkidu is, even they wouldn't escape unscathed from clashing Excalibur.

    5. Originally, the plan was to summon King Arthur herself (interesting to note that Richard doesn't know King Arthur was a woman), but since the sheathe Avalon was gone (Fate/Zero, Fate/Stay Night), Francesca used the box that Avalon was held in, resulting in Richard showing up instead due to a lesser connection to Arthur. Its interesting to note that Francesca seems aware of Arthur's real gender, even calling her a nickname, so wonder what's up with that…

Edit: 6. The guy from Ayaka's dream, Saint Germain, was one of the people who made a lasting impression on Francesca for how he killed her (which is crazy if you know just how strong Kischur and Scar Red are, like near top of the modern era). In addition, it seems that he has some degree of future sight(?), given he seems to be addressing Ayaka directly here ("the you within the depths of your eyes" with a picture of what seems to be Ayaka's back tattoos), along with how he refers to himself as a prophet [and has a car, not sure what's up with that?]. Someone correct me if I wrong tho. Not to mention the fact that cars definitely did not exist back then.

Edit 2: 7. When Flat approached the hospital where Tsubaki and False Rider are hanging out, Jester is seen there and comments how someone approached. He corrects his statement to be that some"thing" approached instead. This seems to imply that Flat is not human, or at least does not register as so to a Dead Apostle, an enemy of humanity. If this is true, it begs the question of "what is he then?"

  4. Nobody noticing that the family at the start of the episode was covered in the disease spots that were infecting the animals last episode.

    10:59 Hassan Cursed Arm??
11:28 Enkidu mentions to Pale Rider and Alcides (Corrupt becomes Avenger )

  7. 8:05 This is actually mentioned offhand in his stats page, but even if he used his NP on the real Excalibur it wouldn’t be as strong as the original. Not that his blasts are weak, just not able to reach the heights of the original even with it.

  8. They thought Saber was going to be King Arthur because they used a box containing Avalon (the Scabbard of Excalibur) as the catalyst. They didn’t know that the box was just a random old box that Richard found back then, and he simply believed it belonged to King Arthur and kept it. Basically, Richard caused this misinformation back then, which carried over into the modern era. That’s why the Holy Grail summoned him instead of King Arthur.

I guess Richard finally realized that the box he treasured his whole life turned out to be just a random old box =)))

Richard’s Excalibur vs King Arthur’s Excalibur: Richard’s Excalibur will never be as strong as the real one, even if he holds the real Excalibur in his hands (he’ll never be able to draw out its full power or create an Excalibur blast as strong as the original). BUT… he can spam it over and over =)))

Fun fact: Richard can also be considered a Rider and Berserker-class Servant.

  9. I guess the Clock Tower forbids Lords from being in the area after Kayneth El-Melloi Archibald, Waver's professor and tge original Lord El-Melloi, died in the 4th one.

Also keep the fact that Lord El-Melloi II recognizes Ayaka in your mind, I wouldn't spoil it but that's a huge part of her back story.

See the problem was that they used the box Avalon was in instead of anything related to Artoria directly, guess who put Avalon in that box in the first place? That's right it was Richard himself when he was still alive.
