Russian TYPICAL Shopping Mall: Do Sanctions Work?

Hello everybody. Welcome to Travelling with Russell.  Welcome to a new video and welcome to Moscow. Now, I thought I’d take you for a walk around   Russia’s biggest shopping center it’s a little  bit cold outside today as you can see they’re

Ice skating right behind me so we’re going to  go inside the shopping center warm up a little.  If you’re wondering where I am in Moscow  this is a place called Khodynka Field Park.  It’s a very nice park just outside the center of  Moscow you can see they’ve set up an ice skating

Rink for wintertime and then the park especially  in winter is very very beautiful they’ve got all   the lights on they got walking path set up and  it is really nice there’s actually a really big   Sports area which in summertime the people  playing volleyball here but at the moment of

Course nobody’s doing that and where we want  to go is just off in the distance Avia Park.  This is Russia’s largest shopping  center and you can see how big it is.  It goes all the way down the street here  till just off in the distance there let’s

Walk on over and get inside shall we today is  actually Saturday afternoon and actually with   winter here in Russia gets dark very early so  even if you’re coming out like now about 4 or   5:00 p.m. it’s almost dark but Avia Park the  largest shopping center in Russia I think it’s

Just appropriate I come back and make a video  I’ve made a couple of videos here before not   been here in quite a lot of months actually so  I’ll be interested to see how it is today and

If there’s any changes maybe let’s see if there’s  any new stores open just see what the mood feels   like inside if you are watching the channel for  the first time I do lots of videos in different   supermarkets and shopping centers and Avia Park  is one of my favorites to come to because every

Shop in Russia is in this shopping center and  you can see how many people are streaming on in   here this is actually not the main entrance but  this is the entrance that leads from the metro   station CSKA and that’s just off in the distance  and these aren’t actors these are real people real

Shoppers coming to the shopping center and this is  the way that I enter into the shopping center as   well the actual main entrance is on the opposite  side by the main highway but virtually everybody   comes in this way it really doesn’t matter when  you come to this shopping center morning noon or

Night there’s always a lot of people and you can  come even on a Monday afternoon on a workday and   it’s busy here and eventually we’re going to get  to the entrance there is actually two levels of

Parking as well at the shopping center of course  this is the street level where we’re walking in   and then there’s another level above us then  we’ll eventually get into the shopping center.  It wouldn’t be an Avia Park video without me  showing the entitled people that think they

Can just park right here at the entrance. Whoever you are Mr BMW driver, you know I   understand you want to be 15 meters from the  entrance but there is an entire car park over   two levels and there is thousands of spots  that you can find even on a day like today.

But please, come on find somewhere  more appropriate to park.  Off we go on inside and through the first set of  turnstyles and already the heating is kicking in.  It’s very, very nice and warm and  there is actually a coat check here.

The secret to coach check is don’t come to the one  on the lower entrance there’s one upstairs and you   can head on up these travel LS and there’s never  a line at the second coach check I think it’s very

Difficult to get a grasp of how many people are in  this shopping center hopefully as we walk around   it may feel and look a lot busier than it might  be on camera but just the amount of people going

Up and down the travelators I think is good proof  of how busy it is everybody going downstairs and   leaving and then here we are finally at one of  the entrances here at Avia park now I’m not sure

If we’re going to end up walking in asan or not  this is I think the largest supermarket in Russia   it’s actually a two-level hypermarket Market it  is insanely big and if you watch my last video   and I talked about the supermarket having no self  checkouts this place is self checkout Heaven just

Because of the sheer amount of people in here and  we might pop in at the end we’ll see let’s have a   walk around the shopping center that’s the bit  I really wanted to show and how busy it is and

Some of the stores here and just how the mood  is Auchan is actually a French owned hypermarket   chain that’s all over Russia it’s in a lot of the  major shopping centers and it’s even in the Far

East it’s not just in Moscow they have a little  cafe outside here and then they have even more   self checkouts right here this is actually even a  gated exit so you got to scan your receipt for the

Door to open it’s that well organized how they do  the self checkout system so finally got rid of my   jacket and my beanie and I feel a bit more Freer  it’s nice and warm in the shopping center always

In Winter all the shopping centers are heated  so once you drop off your coat it’s just nice   to walk around with a nice short sleeve shirt on  today this Shopping Center’s actually spread out   over four levels and it’s very easy to get lost  if you’ve not been here before and then slowly

As you come back each time you get a bit of an  idea of the layout of the shoing Center this   is the main walkway and then you can see the  different levels and people walking around I

Always like to come in on this lower level just  to get my bearings a little after being outside   and then I can get an idea of when I want to  where I want to walk around and see if you’re

Not aware I actually have a Samsung phone I’m an  Android User maybe you’re an Apple user I’m not   sure let me know in the comments and I’m waiting  now for the s24 to come out which I understand

At the moment they’re taking pre-orders but for  now in the store here they’ve got the S23 right   here and then I think almost next week is when  the s24 is going to be available here in Russia

Hopefully as I walk around gives you a good  idea of just how busy this shopping center is   of course a lot of people prefer to come shopping  in Russia on the weekends it’s non-working days   for most people Saturday and Sunday is the more  traditional shopping day the way I make my videos

I do tend to come to them during the week as well  just because it’s easier for me with my schedule.  Here is Lacoste fairly well-known French brand  with the alligator right there and all of the   goodlook lacos guys right here in the front  one thing that a lot of people aren’t aware

Of probably so well in Russia is there has never  been Apple stores in Russia or at least official   Apple Stores they only have authorized  resellers and this is probably by far the   biggest brand called Re:store that’s in Russia. It’s in every shopping center every city every

Town and you can walk right in and buy the iPhone  15 right there you can see the sign on the window   and then the phones are right there in the front  of the store everybody seems to be so happy today

I’m not sure if it’s just coming to the shopping  center getting out of the cold coming just for   a walk around and window shopping that’s what I  tend to do everybody’s happy smiling and waving   so I think the mood sort of feels good even if  it’s after Christmas already for anyone that’s

Never been to Avia Park before this is the main  attraction of the shopping center you know besides   all the shops and clothing and shoes two stores  is this very very big aquarium and just how big

It is is just little bit hard to kind of fathom  just from the video unless you’ve got a super   big television and you can get an idea of the  feeling of how big it is here and extends the

Entire height of the building and then there’s  actually a gantry where the divers walk across   and then go in the tank to feed the fish and  to clean the tank a couple of times per day.

As I gradually walk around the shopping center I  want to take a look at some of the western brands   that keep saying they’re leaving Russia and it  seems like they haven’t now Tommy Hilfiger was

Actually closed for probably a year and a half or  longer and it’s now open again and it’s trading as   Tommy Hilfiger right on the sign there and the  famous American colors the red white and blue   theme is well on display in the store here  and they’re putting out new merchandise so

Tommy it looks like you’re staying in Russia. I really do want to walk around and just get   an idea of the amount of people in the shopping  center and just how busy it is and just to give   you that feeling of a Russian typical shopping  center here in Moscow and see here another

Brand that seems to have renamed itself this was  reserved and it’s now called re and the location   of the store hasn’t changed any of the inside  isn’t changed just the tag on the label of the   clothes and that’s about it and then as we keep  walking can see some people with shopping carts

Now most people would come shopping here like I  did through the Metro of course it’s got a huge   car park as well so there’s quite a mix  of people in this shopping center and I   think this is a sign of the times in Russia  you see right here the Chinese cars and the

Dealerships have put a popup display right here. I’m not sure about this black colored car against   this black colored paneling doesn’t really show  it off as beautifully as I’d like to see it but   the Chinese cars are slowly making their way  into Russia one vehicle at a time right here

And if you want to sign up that’s the guy  there if you want to buy yourself a car   while you’re here at the shopping center this  is a very interesting store here boss or Hugo   Boss this place has been closed for right about 2  years and all the stuff’s inside everything’s set

Up on display all they’ve literally done is just  close the door and stop trading there’s actually   a phone number on the door if you want to call  them or if you’ve got any kind of a issue with

A return or an exchange but for 2 years this  place has been closed US polo Association is   well and truly open this hasn’t changed any bit  in all the last couple of years now a lot of   people when I’ve been making videos especially  over these last 2 years years keep telling me

“Oh Come Back in a year and  show me what it looks like.  Come back in 6 months” and I’m here now 2 years  later since one of my original videos at this   shopping center to have a look and see what  it feels like walking around perhaps you fancy

Yourself a Venus flly trap we’ve got a small  garden shop I’m not sure what they would call   this with the glass terrariums right there which  are pretty cool and then here is pretty much one   of the most worldwide famous brand names Levis now  everything in the store is exactly Levi you’ll see

Even the sign right there but the actual sign  on the door outside is called JNS or jeans if   you spell it out to yourself and this store  essentially has no difference in how it ever   looked and how it looks now all of the clothing  inside is Levi branded clothing except that one

Sign on the outside over on this right hand side  is goo I’m almost certain I pronounced this wrong   but a lot of people have asked me about this  store is it still trading in Russia is it still

Open and it certainly is and then I actually have  a friend in America who works for tiso and tiso   is actually part of the Swatch company and the  Tissot store although there’s nobody there at

The moment is well and truly open this is one of  these popup stores that are generally here for you   know a few years at a time and they’re a permanent  store perhaps the employees off on a tea break.

However, Tissot is definitely here in Russia. One of the luxury Brands I think a lot of people   know Furla and their Handbags. No matter where you go in the   world the shops look just the same. Beautiful sales people in the shop.

There not too many Shoppers though one of the  reasons I chose to come to Avia Park apart from   it being probably my favorite Shopping Center in  Moscow is the fact that every brand every store   that’s anywhere in Russia has one shop in this  shopping center so no matter matter how hard you

Try to find something when you go shopping you’ll  find it here in this shopping center and you know   although it’s a huge place it takes a few hours  to navigate around at some point you’ll find   the shop that you want and hopefully something  you know to take home you can see people with

Shopping bags people are spending money people  are buying things in Russia it’s a little bit   hard to see here but this is donut and coffee  and this was Krispe Kreme and it still is Krespe   Kreme and the donuts are still exactly the same. The trolleys that they wheel them in and out on

Are exactly the same and the line doesn’t seem  to stop my original glaze donut is waiting for   me right here 99 rubles or just over a dollar  individually and then of course you can get the   mixed dozen right there there all they’ve done is  just changed the signage a little bit this might

Be interesting for a few of you if you know the  brand Dyson and the very famous vacuums it’s now   reopened as die shop and this actually was closed  in all the shopping centers in Russia for more

Than a year probably even longer and it’s now die  shop all the products are exactly the same nothing   has changed whatsoever except couple of letters  are missing off the sign I have a question for

Everybody who’s watching can you tell me where  you live in the world do you have a wine shop in   your shopping center and is there a standalone  store that just has wine somewhere other than   a liquor store or a separate liquor store. This is right in the main lower level of

The shopping center and it really only deals with  wine, champagne and it has some premium spirits.  You’ll see on the back wall there there’s some  whiskies and cognacs but someone needs to tell me   is there a wine store in your shopping center let  me know in the comments I’m very curious I know

In Australia we don’t have them so perhaps around  the world they might be one the thing that’s very   different with a lot of Russian shopping centers  they’ve got a lot of Home stores now this isn’t   the best one to film because of the flashing  lights but beyond the traditional clothes and

Shoes there’s a lot of HomeGoods and things  for your house that you can come shopping for   there’s a tfile store here which has got mostly  things for your kitchen of course and the whole   thing with this is you’re not just coming to buy  clothes and shoes you’ve got a lot more options

And a lot more reason to come to a shopping  center in Russia they also have bed shops in   this shopping center as well there’s actually  two or three of them I think I’m probably not

Going to cover them all in this video but do you  go bed shopping when you go to a shopping center   or do you have standalone stores that you’d go  to now I have done different videos on Hoff.

You might want to check out one on the channel  this place needs an entire video in itself this   is the Russian answer to Ikea actually Hoff has  been here for many many years in Russia this is

Not a new concept it was here before Ikea it’s  here after Ikea and I think now this company   has picked up so much business from the fact that  Ikea simply closed and left and there is a lot of

Similarities when you walk around the store it’s  not got that you know walking system like you’d be   used to in Ikea but a lot of lot of similarities  these guys are really really doing well I think

Now until you get to this upper level it’s really  hard to get a feeling of how big this shopping   center is we’re up on the first level now and then  there’s another level and then that top level up

There and you can just see the roof way off in  the distance and just the amount of people that   are in the shopping center today again as I’m  walking around there’s different Pockets where   it’s absolutely crowded and then you come byy some  stores and there’s really nobody inside at all so

Hopefully gives you a good perspective as I walk  around there’s a great view of the aquarium from   here and the very big eel that’s wrapped around it  there’s a very famous eel in the aquarium that’s   got its own Instagram page and lots and lots  of followers and that’s the eel that’s wrapped

Around the aquarium and I just thought I’d show  this coffee shop right here and this great spot   you’ve got to overlook everybody and this place  is simply called coffee and that’s it coffee and   this was actually Costa Coffee I’m sure that red  color looks familiar perhaps where you live in

The world you’ve got Costa Coffee but all they’ve  done is just unscrewed the one sign from the logo   right there you can actually see the screw hole  still and everything Remains the Same I never   really shopped at this coffee shop before but it’s  definitely got plenty of people here coffee shops

Are hugely popular in Russia it’s become a bit of  a trending thing in the last few years and to sit   and relax and chill out this is a huge shopping  center so it’s always nice to stop for a coffee

Every now and again I can’t get away from looking  at the aquarium no matter how many times I come   here I can just stare at this and look at it and  even on all the different levels as you go up in

The shopping center you’ll see different fish  on different levels and right down to the the   bottom everybody gather around there and I think  you can get a good idea of how many people are in   here shopping just from seeing this Middle Island  of the main shopping center the one thing that is

Very noticeable in this shopping center is you’re  not going to run out of places to go shopping   at and if a few of the western brands have left  there is literally stores that have opened up in

Exactly the place where the previous store was and  there’s more than enough stuff to choose from you   know there is 500 stores in the shopping center I  mean is there about half of them dedicated just to   clothes andan even if you think about 250 clothing  stores it’s just staggering you’ve just got store

After store that you can come into this shopping  center did actually have an Ikea here and it was   spread over two levels it was actually called  Ikea home and there are different versions of   Ikeas depending on where you live in the world and  this space right here is where Ikea was and since

It’s closed down this space became available  it’s become a multi-brand furniture store and   there is around about 40 different companies that  have little displays or booths if you like and   they all promote their own different brands and  essentially it’s mostly sofas beds tables things

Like that and it’s really hard to get an idea  of how big this space is I think you can kind of   feel it on the video just how spacious it is when  you look around and all the different individual

Stores are wrapped around the outside and then as  you walk in you kind of walk into each different   company’s shop and if you needed a sofa this would  be the place you come to there is hundreds maybe

Thousands of sofas and this is not counting the  Hof that I showed you earlier in the video this   is probably the most famous electronic store in  Russia there is thousands of these across all   of Russia no matter where you go what shopping  center what city and this is where you come to

Get phones Electronics any kind of things for your  kitchen and I’m curious they’ve got the sign there   for the s24 and I think they’re also accepting  the pre-orders for them as well so there’s a   poster already up and I think depending on when  you’re watching this video especially if you’re

Watching it in the first few days that we been on  the channel this phone isn’t available in Russia   yet but I think about another week this particular  store is very very popular all across Russia you   can either come into the store like this or you  can order online for delivery and safely every

Brand of every Appliance will be in this store  if you come in here and they’ve always got the   best prices too if you want to shop around again  this is hard to you know feel how big this place

Is and how busy it is remember to get to this  store we’ve walked past 450 other stores just   to get in here so it’s really you know plays  with your mind when you come shopping what you

Might want to buy you can see here they’ve got  Dyson in this store and this basically has one   of everything I have actually done separate  videos on this store as well on the channel

Maybe if you want to see a new one let me know  in the comments if you want to see one that’s   a little bit more updated but just check the  descriptions on the videos in the channel for

Electronic stores and for sure this store will  pop up as a video that that you can watch as we   reach the top level now you can see and feel how  big it is now the word Avia park is in reference

To Aviation and the park where we started the  video Khodynka Pole was actually the Airfield   and there was actually a Runway and this was  the main terminal of what used to be an airport.  Many years ago. It wasn’t nearly this big

But when they went to open this years later they  paid homage to the area where it is and part of   the park that I walked in through is actually  where the Airfield was and then this building

Would have represented where you would actually  go to check in and board the planes and that’s the   feel of this shopping center is that you’re in a  Aerodrome walking into the food court area it’s a

Little bit hard to get an idea of how many people  are in here but there is quite a few thousand   spread over this whole upstairs level so there  is actually the traditional fast food restaurants

Here so you’ll see what used to be McDonald’s  what used to be KFC they’re all here and just the   amount of people in this shopping center you know  we saw them from walking in on that lower level

And there’s around about 20 different fast food  places in this upstairs level and then just how   many people it just wraps around the seating have  to say it seats around about 3 or 4,000 I think in   total if anybody’s worried about the replacement  to KFC struggling definitely not and then Russia’s

Replacement for McDonald’s is just as busy and  you can see the amount of people queuing up just   to use the self checkouts and then you just wait  for your number to be called on that television   screen it’s really hard to grasp the amount of  people in here again the videos just don’t do

It justice how big this shopping center is I have  to give a shout out to one of my biggest telegram   supporters David if you’re watching you know I  always give a shout out to you in almost every   video because there’s something Italian here  in Russia and have a look I love Italy right

Here and they’ve actually got a very nice Italian  restaurant and they’ve even got sport on the TVs   as well and these are Standalone restaurants where  they’ve got full table service full menu right out   the front so you can get anything Italian you  like just probably the cook is from Russia I’m

Sure there’s not an Italian guy back there putting  the pizzas together have a look from this upper   level how cool does the aquarium look and how many  people are in the shopping center I’d love to know   what their statistics are for people coming here  daily and particularly on the weekend as well and

Many people would be in here on a Saturday or a  Sunday cuz there would be hundreds of thousands   of people in the shopping center this is a very  nice view also just to see all the shops on each

Of the different levels I’ve not nearly covered  you know about 20% of the shopping center showing   you some of the stores this upstairs level on  the opposite side of where we’re looking here   has only children’s shops and what the Shopping  Center’s done is they’ve broken down each area

Of the shopping center into different zones so  different shoe shopping areas ladies or men’s   clothing and then on this upstairs level it’s  all kids stores and there’s probably about 40   different ones so a lot of the main brands  that have adult stores they have separate

Children’s ones all the way along and if you’re  from England or somewhere in Europe perhaps you   probably recognize this brand or maybe not the  spelling of it this was originally mother care   and it closed for quite a while and then reopened  as mother bear and I think if you’re from the UK

I’m sure it’ be very recognizable brand to most  people I thought it might be interesting just   to show this this is actually a waffle stand or  a waffle Cafe and they make them right there on

The machine but they also have lots of imported  drinks here and of course we all V very well the   different Coca-Cola products right here and then  have a look at the top here they’ve actually got

Bunder BG which is Australian and they’ve even got  the spiced ginger beer which is the one that’s for   Christmas or the holidays and how would you be  that you come all the way to Russia thinking that

All of these brands have left and then you can  walk in here and buy austral and ginger beer the   one thing that is very noticeable in this shopping  center and all the others in Moscow is the shoe

Stores and particularly the sports shoes and young  fashion shoes and now what’s happened with a lot   of the brands claiming that they’ve left Russia  it’s made way for these multi-brand shoe stores   and clothing stores and all the brands that were  not available are now magically available and and

You can see here all the signs for the different  brands and then as we continue walking along this   middle level here on this right hand side there  is an entire Corridor of only shoe stores and   this whole aisle where we’re walking down now is  dedicated to different shoe brands and all of the

Western brands that have left they’re still and  you know I I smile about it and I laugh about it   I mean pretty much my channel is dedicated to  showing retail and supermarkets and shopping   centers and coming to these kind of buildings and  showing you and then you know there’s a lot of

Western media saying you know you can’t get this  you can’t get that in Russia you know Timberland   is not in Russia but if you simply walk into boot  wood you can see here all all of the shoes more

Than available there’s also some other brands  as well Lee coopa camper and then of course I   think this Timberland brand is very recognizable  anywhere in the world and more than available in   in Russia and this is kind of the kind of video  that I want to do on this particular walk around

Is show you you know the fact that everything  is definitely here and definitely available   this is dmix and this is actually an offshoot  of sport Meister which is another main clothing   store brand in Russia that’s got predominantly  Sports clothing and they’ve now made their own

Standalone store which then takes away all of the  extra sporting equipment out of the shop and just   focuses only on the shoes and then there’s a  winter sports store here I’m not not too sure   Alpine industry this was is this possibly North  Face I think and there is not a single person in

There I think we’ve all got our winter jackets by  now well I hope we have there’s another shoe store   here I think this is perhaps Standalone brand  lots of sheep skin shoes right there and then I

Think everybody knows Colombia and I think this  is maybe is a new store for the shopping center   I don’t remember this being here in the past  and the shoe stores continue all the way along   here there is another multibrand shoe store right  here called Urban Vibes which again has all of the

Recognizable Brands Nike Adidas pummer you can  see more than enough choices so what’s happened   with all of the brands leaving it’s left a space  now for all of these multi- Channel or multi-brand   stores to come along this is called amazing red  and this is actually the pummer store and simply

The name has changed and the management Remains  the Same just the door has a new sign on it on   the outside and then here is one last store  that I’ll show you on this lane called Anta.  This is actually a Chinese clothing brand. At the end of the day pretty much everything I’ve

Shown you is coming from China anyway and then  this brand is specifically a Chinese brand very   nice store I’ve been in this one before and it’s  one of the most popular clothing brands in China

As a brand beyond all of the western Brands we  know and they’ve got a very nice selection a few   of the NBA players that play basketball in the US  they’re very big on endorsing this brand so there

Is more than enough shoes and sports clothes here  in Russia there is one more store behind me called   street beat and this is their flagship store here  in Avia Park and I think the question I have for

Everybody is does it really matter where you’re  buying your shoes from and if you’re not buying   from a Nike store you know I’m sure wherever you  live in the world you might buy Nike shoes in

Another chain of stores or another brand of shoe  store you know as long as they’re original and the   same product for me it doesn’t bother me where I  buy them from as long as they’re the right price

The right color and style I’m happy wherever I  buy them this gives you an idea from this middle   walkway here all the people in the shopping center  and everybody walking around you know if I come

Here with my wife I think I’d lose her for quite a  few hours you know there’s only two or three shops   that I would normally go to if I come here you  know I just get overwhelmed just by the amount of

Choices now this is a new shop for this shopping  center I’ve actually been looking for this store   across all of Moscow for such a long time and I  finally found it NSP now without me saying what

Name of clothing it is perhaps the logo right here  on there door frames might give it away perhaps on   the back wall the big logo might give it away and  NSP is a rebranded Nik store to be very very blunt

About it and everything in here is Nike and I’ve  been looking for one of these stores for months   and months to come and have a look around and  see what it feels like and I’m not showing what’s

Going on we’re in a night store and he’s wearing  an Adidas T-shirt he needs to run out of here very   fast this is the direct competition to decathlon  it’s called sport master and this is a very nice

Store you can kind of feel the difference when you  walk in here I’ll just literally walk in and out   how much Fuller it feels how much better stocked  it is and just generally the store is super nice

Inside if you do want to see a video of this store  I’ve got one on the channel as well just type in   Russian sports store and it’ll come up I’ll also  put some links in the description to the different

Stores that I pointed out but you can see here all  of the different brands of shoes all the way down   to the back of the shop so if anybody thinks there  there’s no shoes in Russia and we’ve only seen 20

Shoe stores so far and there is not a possibility  of not finding a shoe in your size in your brand   and no matter what style you want I’m pretty sure  we can find it here in Avia park somewhere walking

Around the whole shopping center I’ve seen maybe  four or five empty store locations and this is   one of them and it’s called MD secret and this  pink color looks quite familiar but I really   wonder what MD secret might become is it possibly  a rebranded Victoria Secret someone needs to tell

Me what MD secret is going to be as I get to the  last bit of the video and as promised almost right   at the beginning I thought I’d just briefly walk  through asan and and this place is massive this

Is a hypermarket with another Hypermarket on  top if you’re from America think of a twostory   Walmart I think it’s the only way you can grasp  it in your head you know the amount of things in

Here this upstairs level is all of the non food  items so anything that you can’t eat is on this   upstairs level and it’s very very spacious it has  its own Cafe off in the difference distance where

You can sit down and have lunch and then anything  you want for your home is in here there’s a little   bit of electronics and anything for your house  now of course we’ve seen so many stores already

Where you could have shopped before even getting  to this store check out Yuri gagar in here how   cool is that that is very cool it’s all made  out of cardboard as well there’s lots of phone   stuff [Music] televisions lots and lots of choices  and this is just the upstairs label before you

Even see the food all the kids toys and Ashan  is actually a French hypermarket chain they’re   actually associated with Leroy Merlin and they  did have a connection with the decathlon or D   sport brand as well and these chains of stores  have vowed to stay in Russia and if these were

To close they would lose hundreds of millions of  dollars just for the fact they’d closed the doors   and there is never ending shopping even if you  don’t go to anywhere else in the shopping center   you can come only to Ashan and find anything you  need the beauty and personal care section alone

Is worth the mention and how many choices you  have just of shampoos and body washes it’s just   incredible There is almost a half a supermarket  just of personal items right here now a lot of   people are going to say in the comments that  there’s people shopping there is nobody in this

Store keep in mind we’re in the biggest shopping  center in Russia we’ve seen a twostory hardware   store twostory furniture store this of course is a  two-story supermarket and we’ve seen the remnants   of about 500 regular shops so you’ve really got to  narrow it down to what you need and where you’re

Going to shop when you come here you’re not  going to be able to carry everything home and   this is the food section as we go down the travel  later the exact same space we saw upstairs this   is only dedicated to food drinks alcohol it is  absolutely huge so if you’re seeing that people

Aren’t shopping it’s maybe because they’ve got 500  other shops to choose from Beyond just coming in   here and a lot of people would choose to shop at  a shop close to where they live rather than than   perhaps coming to this shopping center for general  shopping and then coming across this store you.

I can go to a supermarket in my building and find  everything I need without even coming to Ashan and   to find something and this place again is just  aisle after aisle of items it’s just incredible   how many choices you’ve got and how many Brands  you can choose from from throughout the whole

Store and I’m literally just going to walk through  here on the way out because it’s just too much   to show in one video truly this would be another  video in itself the only aisle I’m going to show

You in usan is the egg aisle because I’ve had so  many questions about eggs in Russia and are there   eggs available in Russia and let me just tell  you there is definitely more than enough eggs

To choose from here they come in boxes of six  10 20 or 30 so there is literally eggs for the   entire aisle there is more than enough eggs the  only thing that you’re going to see that varies

The price of eggs is the size of them now I’m  not really that bothered which size of eggs   that I buy when I come in here here because you  know I just buy whichever one is the best value

For me and their house box of eggs here for  112 rubles so about $1.30 for a pack of 10.  Now you can literally go  to a store where you live.  I mean where I live. I can walk downstairs from my building

And buy eggs cheaper than in this hypermarket and  this is the hard thing to explain to everybody,   is the fact that I don’t have to come all the way  across Moscow to think that I’m going to buy eggs   cheaper here because it’s a hypermarket. This is probably their cheapest box of

Eggs it’s about $1.30 USD for a box of 10. I think roughly or realistically the box   of eggs in Russia should be around about 100  rubles for the absolute classic standard box   of eight eggs but have a look this whole  aisle has them there is more than enough.

So as I walk on out of Auchan. I really hope you’ve enjoyed this video.  I really hope it’s not too long. I’ve got my pickup tag for my jacket   and as i head on downstairs and collect it,  then walk to the metro station and head home.

I’ve got about a 2 hour  trip from here to my house.  A couple of trains, a couple of buses. I really do hope this was an interesting   video post a comment let me know what you think  I’ve asked lots of questions throughout the video

So lots to think about if you want to follow me  on telegram I’ve got a link to telegram right   here it’s going to come up right away and if you  maybe want to watch an old video on the channel

There’ll be a link right there to something a  little bit different maybe something you’ve not   seen on the channel before and as I find my way  downstairs this is the bit of a chaos now where   the escalators are I’m off on another adventure. Bye everybody.

  2. The mall nearest me closed a couple of years ago. There's an open-air mall about half an hour from me and It's always mobbed. It spreads over two sides of the street and goes for at least half a mile. As far as the size, that big is fine. I used to live and work at Willowbrook Mall in NJ and it was a similar size. It's still there and seems quite successful.

  3. As a separate channel, or additional video, it would be interesting for you to tour apartments near some of the Russian malls you video — specifically, I'd be interested in the apartments / condominiums that I see in your videos around "Avipark" mall.

  5. According to the wise president Ms Golikova 6 mln. russians earn less than minimum wage. (Report from june 2023). The minimum russian wage is about 190 €/month.

  7. Looks like USA, Canada, Europe before the current demographic replacement. Malls aren't even safe to go to anymore and many have curfews and rules to protect actual shoppers from the urban diversity.

  8. Спасибо за санкции всем! Чтоб мы без вас наши " неуважаемые партнёры" делали… 😂😂😂 Наша страна должна быть самостоятельной во всех смыслах.💪❤️

  9. Election year in the U.S. The FSB handlers of Russell demand an increase in output ! Here comes the daily “stores in the affluent areas of the capital well stocked with stuff which isn’t even sanctioned”. Congrats. Autocracy with nice malls. I think i prefer Dubai if that’s the only requirement… nicer weather in the winter and much safer

  10. Hi Russ,

    thank you.

Amazing if you posted shopping malls in America without looking at the Russian signs, capitalism is alive and well, all over the world.

    Great posts
